Don’t Give Up on Prayer

by Margaret Feinberg | March 21, 2019

In this clip from Margaret Feinberg’s study, Wonderstruck: Awaken to the Nearness of God,  Margaret describes four different types of prayer lives and what they could look like. But ultimately, we must not lose sight of the wonder that is communing and talking to the living God through prayer.

The entire video is above, and the complete transcript is below.

When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, He gives them less than 60 words. And yet, He gives them so much in so little.

Do you recognize the power in the words that you pray?

Some of you are in a place in your spiritual life where your prayer life is better than it has ever been. It is vibrant, alive, and passionate. And if that is you, you go and you keep on going, and teach us a few things along the way.

But there are others of you who, when you look at your prayer life, in some ways it’s not so different from some of the stories that I’ve shared. That maybe you too have lost sight of God as your loving Father. Maybe for some of you, you look and you think, “You know, there are ‘non-versations’ that have slipped into my own prayer life. Where I’m talking to God and saying nothing at all.”

For still some others of you, you may look and say, “You know, I have some wishful thinking in my prayer life. There are times that I think that if I’ll just say the right words or enough words that maybe then God will answer.”

And for some of you, you’ve given up on prayer altogether.

No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, can I encourage you that the wonder of prayer remains. That we have the opportunity to talk to God, to experience the affection of God, to encounter intimacy with God. And through prayer, God wants to do things both in you and through you that are beyond your wildest imaginations and will leave you wonderstruck.
