One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever received in ministry, and it was early on at the first church my husband and I served in, was from the pastor’s wife who said to me, “Just be you. Just be you.”
I can’t tell you how many times in the different roles I’ve had in ministry and in the workplace that that has come back to me. I think we get in trouble when we try to be somebody we’re not. Take the gifts and the experiences and all that God has put in you and settle in to yourself as a woman and as a gifted woman, as a person who has a contribution to make. It will make all the difference in the world in your leadership impact.
It’s not that you don’t grow and develop and stretch yourself, but you stretch yourself in the skin that God has given you. Not trying to be in somebody else’s skin and trying to be somebody else.
You are woman. You are gifted. So lead in that place that God has you and be all that you were designed to be.
