Being the wife of a pastor or church leader comes with its own opportunities and challenges. In this video, pastor’s wife, Kandi Gallaty, shares some of the opportunities and challenges she’s come across in her experience.
The entire video is above, and the complete transcript is below.
I’m often asked what unique opportunities and challenges come with being a pastor’s wife? And let me just say, I absolutely love being a pastor’s wife and getting to serve alongside my husband.
I think that’s one of the biggest opportunities we have is serving as a team together in partnership. It’s super special. And then obviously incorporating that into our family with our two boys.
Another great opportunity is the influence the Lord gives us as pastors’ wives in our church and in our communities. A super, great privilege that we have. And so that would be also another opportunity.
And then I would also say all the women that you get to meet in your churches and in your communities is a great opportunity that we have in the role of being a pastor’s wife. And so all of those are super great.
And then I would say for challenges it’s a little more tricky for me to talk about challenges because I’m an eternal optimist. So I have to actually like sit down and think, “Okay, well what is actually difficult or what is a challenge?”
But there are two things that I would say are a challenge I know in our family and in our ministry. And one would be balancing time. It can be extremely tricky trying to balance your schedules and what you want to say yes to, what you need to say no to and that sort of a thing. And so balancing that overall is something that we always work on and it’s constantly being tweaked in our home.
And I would say another challenge, if you’re like me, is anytime your husband may be attacked verbally or something like that happens and you kind of have that wife warrior in you come out. That is obviously a challenge because we don’t want to act on that, right?
And so through the years of different struggles and things like that that have happened in our own ministry, I have just sought prayer obviously and been in the Word. And the verse that always comes to mind for me is Exodus 14:14. “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be silent.”
So I hope that encourages you today.
