The women I’ve had the privilege of meeting with over the last 10 to 15 years, have been just a great honor and a privilege for me. I love walking alongside women in discipleship. And I’m often asked, “What kind of impact have I seen in their lives after being so regularly committed to the Word of the Lord?” That’s a question that really excites me because there’s a lot to say about God’s Word.
But I would say, first and foremost, it’s individual life change. Someone’s life is entirely changed when they spend a committed time in the Word of God. I believe that there’s no other spiritual discipline that will so affect your spiritual life as regular engagement of reading God’s Word. It is living and active, but sharper than any two-edged sword. It’s always going to accomplish it’s purpose.
For the ladies that I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside of, what I have seen for them is two things. Many more, but I’m going to tell you two.
They develop a biblical world view. That is so important because all decisions that they make are filtered through the lens of Christ and through what God’s Word says. Beforehand they may not have been doing that. So their whole entire families change. Their work changes. Their attitudes change. Everything changes based on that world view that they now have which is grounded in the Word of the Lord.
And not only a biblical world view, but just Bible literacy. We live in a society today where many of our churches and the people that are sitting in our churches are illiterate of the Bible. And yet we all have them in our homes. We try to kind of combat that in discipleship. That’s a great way to combat that, is to have people regularly in the Word and then they begin to know God. Not just that lightbulb moment everyday of what God is saying to you–although that will happen–but it’s also, what can I learn about Him? How do I know His story more? So that would be becoming literate of the Bible, which is super exciting.
And once that happens you can’t stop a woman from either making disciples or pouring into others what she’s learned from the Word of God.
